As we get closer to the end of the year, hopes of a new MacBook 2019 are diminishing. Many rumours have pointed towards a 16-inch MacBook Pro hitting the shelves but there has been nothing concrete from Apple just yet.
Apple’s MacBooks have long been known for their sleek look – with even the larger models appearing small in comparison to competitors.
Apple is set to test that sleek-ness to its limits with a new 16-inch model of the MacBook Pro.
Rumours of a 16-inch MacBook Pro have been around for some time now – with them picking up earlier this year. However, they’ve gone relatively quiet as of late and the clock is running down on a 2019 release date.
We’ve brought together all the news and rumours relating to the potential 16-inch MacBook Pro so you can swot up before its eventual release.

MacBook Pro 2019 release date – When is the new MacBook Pro out?
For a long while, rumours suggested we would see the new 16-inch MacBook in 2019. However – as the year has gone on – there has been speculation that we may be waiting until next year for the release.
The more hopeful reports which point to this year have suggested the MacBook Pro 2019 could see the light of day in September or October.
However, hopes of a 2019 release took a blow when Apple’s Special Event in September came and went without the 16-inch MacBook Pro.
There is still a chance Apple could release the new model this year – with some rumours suggesting an October event could introduce the 16-inch version.
MacBook Pro 2019 price – How much will it cost?
We haven’t gotten any concrete information on the price of the 16-inch MacBook Pro yet. The new form factor is yet to be announced but – when it is – the price is expected to be high.
The current cheapest 13-inch MacBook Pro costs £1299, while the entry-level 15-inch model has a £2399 price. Judging from these established prices, a 16-inch MacBook Pro may well cost as much as £3000.
Of course, there will likely be multiple configurations of the MacBook Pro too, with a model boasting a better processor and larger storage being even more expensive.

MacBook Pro 2019 – Design and display
The most exciting rumours for the MacBook Pro 2019 is undoubtedly the design and display. Speculation suggests the MacBook Pro 2019 will have a 16.5-inch display, but won’t actually be widely different in size to the 15-inch model.
How will Apple manage such a feat? Likely by shaving down the size of the bezel, which will finally see the MacBook Pro follow the design trend of other premium laptops. This will also make the overall size of the MacBook Pro slimmer than your average 16-inch laptop.
This will become Apple’s biggest MacBook Pro currently available, with the 17-inch model discontinued back in 2012.
Another rumour suggests the resolution of the display will be 3072 x 1920. This would be an improvement on previous MacBook Pro models, but still misses out on 4K which will disappoint many, especially with such a potentially high price.

MacBook Pro 2019 – Specs and performance
The 15-inch MacBook Pro saw a refresh earlier this year, with Intel’s 9th Generation Intel Core processors giving the performance a serious boost. It’s likely the 16-inch MacBook Pro 2019 will see a similar CPU setup, but with a potentially higher clock speed.
Another possibility is we’ll see Intel’s brand new 10th Generation mobile chip, which could be either Comet Lake or Ice Lake. The latter would give the MacBook Pro a GPU boost thanks to Intel’s integrated graphics in the processor.
However, since the 16-inch MacBook Pro is almost guaranteed to have a discrete graphics card, it’s more likely we’ll see a Comet Lake processor if Apple does indeed opt for Intel’s 10th Generation processors.
Elsewhere, the specs are likely to match up with previous MacBook Pro models, just with more powerful alternatives.
